Your Wedding Reception Music

Print off this handy sheet & pin to your fridge to jot down the songs you love as you hear them on the radio.

Following are the ‘moments’ in your reception that we will ask you to choose music for. Underneath each ‘moment’ are an idea of what kind of music you might choose, some examples and a square for you to scribble your ideas on. Put it on the fridge so you can jot down a song when you hear it.

Bridal Party Entrance

You want something a little bit fun. It’s time to party so something a little bit upbeat.

Eg: Beautiful Day (U2), Get The Party Started (Pink), Crazy LIttle Thing Called Love (Queen)

My Ideas

Cutting of the Cake

You can either have a love song, or play on the ‘sweet’ aspect of the cake

Eg: The Sweetest Thing (U2), Sugar Sugar – The Archies, Chocolate Cake – Crowded House

My Ideas

Bridal Waltz

We can’t tell you what to pick, for this. This is ‘your song’, the song that is special to you both.

We will usually invite the bridal party up to join you about halfway through this song (so you don’t have to dance on your own with everyone staring at you for too long!)

My Ideas

2nd Dance

We like to play one more slow song to give everyone the opportunity to dance with you. It’s nice if you chose a ‘golden oldie’ that everyone can enjoy.

Eg: At Last – Etta James, Someone Like You  – Van Morrison, Have I Told You Lately – Van Morrison

My Ideas

Bouquet Toss

This one’s for the girls, pick something you and your girlfriends enjoy.

Eg: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun – Cyndi Lauper, Single Ladies – Beyonce, Man, I Feel Like A Woman – Shania Twain

My Ideas

Garter Toss

This one’s for the boys, you want something little bit sexy for this.

Eg: Mr Boombastic – Shaggy, You Can Leave Your Hat On – Joe Cocker, Sexyback – Justin Timberlake

My Ideas

Farewell Circle – 3 Songs

You can go in a number of directions with this. You want something fun for your guests to enjoy while they politely wait for you to say goodbye. Most people choose farewell type songs.

Eg: I’ve Had The Time Of My Life – Bill Medley & Jennifer Warner, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) – Greenday

My Ideas

Party Time

While we will ask you if there are one or two song you really want to hear during the night, we do not encourage clients to choose any more music than this.

The wonderful thing about having a professional, experienced DJ is that they can play the perfect song for each moment, this is not something that can be planned in advance, it is about reading a room and going with the vibe of that particular night.

Generally, your DJ will try to play a good mix of music including the classics as well as some top 40, depending on the crowd and their particular mood that night.

We are more than happy to take requests on the night.

Our DJs are very friendly and we encourage you to communicate with them throughout the night.
